Are we living in the Matrix?
When I first saw the Matrix I was barely a teen so I didn't really pay the movie much mind, like everyone other person I just thought it was a cool movie. Now that I'm older I am able to look at the movie from a different perspective. Are we living in the Matrix? Is technology controlling us? Are we living in our own hell controlled by own inventions? Better yet are we aware of this but choose to continue to live in ignorant bliss ignoring all warning signs of technology backfiring on us. There are so many movies showcasing the impending doom of too much human reliance on technology and still we continue to ignore the flashing lights. The Matrix compares closely to The Terminator for me. Both movies show that due to human ignorance and self indulgance that leads to the downfall of the human race and the rise of machines and technology taking over. In both movies there is that one person that is stronger than everyone else and would rather live in the real world and fight back than just sit back and accept the fate that is given to them. I always found that it was ironic that what we created to serve us ends up enslaving us.

ReplyDeleteI think there are some strong influences from the "Terminator" because the concept is VERY similar.
ReplyDeleteActually, the concept is similar! So, in both The Terminator and The Matrix, we can say the topic is "slave to the machine/technology". But is the point that we ARE slaves (it has already happened) or that we ARE GOING TO BE (it will happen if we are not careful?
ReplyDeleteI personally think we are already enslaved by technology and are becoming more entangled as time progresses. The matter at hand is if like in both movies will there be that chosen one to take a stand because as shown humans are weak and machines always seem to win out. I'm waiting to see the new Terminator movie to make my full assessment.
